From Medieval Scribes to 21st Century Digital Printing 6th June @ 2.30pm
This talk covers:
Setting the scene in terms of medieval society and the early beginnings of commercial and capitalist forms of commerce.
Gutenberg (Germany) invented movable type and the first printing factory in the early part of the fifteenth century. His invention was to change the world.
William Caxton's contribution to the English language and literature, and the 19th century industrial revolution printing machine development.
Then from the 1980s onwards there has been massive investment in digital technology which is very much part of current printing techniques.
Doors open at 2pm for tea and cake.
